We, at EXPM, are proud to offer specialized engineering services, processes and professional equipment able to be used in the areas of preservation and maintenance of documents and other items such as in archives, libraries and museums. EXPM promotes the use of resources and instruments that will make the process of preventive maintenance more efficient. We provide technical solutions and technologies to preserve and maintain our cultural heritage, underpinned by factors such as efficiency, ecology and ergonomics, fundamental criteria to the definition of all EXPM vast range of equipment and services. As an expert engineering-based company, EXPM also provides technical solutions for the conservators' needs in terms of services and products, specially designed for cultural institutions, mainly installation and maintenance of conservation machines.

Pest Control Technicians
Equipment and services offered by EXPM should be included in a wider program for pest control. In those programs, which should be established in collaboration with the appropriate services of Cultural Institutions, appropriate strategies for the prevention of potential infestations risks will be defined, in order to reduce the risk of loss or degradation of objects and documents. We are available to help define and implement these strategies through the application of our expertise in these areas and further by providing specific solutions and equipment for the capture, identification and elimination of pests. We ensure our active participation in various projects for conservation and preservation and search for equipment and techniques, always with special emphasis on developing user-friendly and environmentally friendly technologies. We regularly participate in research projects associated with Universities and Research Laboratories operating in these areas. We actively participate in the most important conferences and seminars, both in Portugal and abroad as speakers and observers.
EXPM and the world
EXPM is a producer and a retailer of specific material for conservation specialists: equipment, instruments and consumables that can be consulted via web or by email. To find adequate and cost-effective products, EXPM has an open interface with specialized suppliers in several countries, providing Conservators from worldwide Heritage Institutions with specific equipment and services observing Quality and Efficiency standards. EXPM has partners in key countries, reselling and providing technical and logistical support to EXPM equipment, always with the goal of maximizing quality and efficiency of services provided to customers.
História /Curriculum
- EXPM's activity started in the 1990's, providing anoxia solutions in two Portuguese major institutions: National Archives and National Library.
- We started increasing our range of products according to Conservators' requirements. We developed efficient and cost-effective equipment and services.
- Providing on-site worldwide user training and technical support and maintenance.
- I&D project about effects on fungi and mold eradication from historic documentation, using freezing process.
- I&D project about effects on termite eradication from wood, using anoxia process.
- Conference project about EXPM anoxic disinfestations equipments at NOOX3 / London.

- EXPM equipment and services have been assigned from heritage institutions needing specialized human resources, searching for specialized outsourcing, equipment and adequate materials to offer an effective support to Conservators.
-EXPM has been developing its know-how to face customers' requirements, namely in strategic measures to avoid the deterioration of collections, as well as in specialized technical equipment and instruments to correct physical deterioration of materials.
